Climate & Weather

Located inside of twenty degrees from the equator, St. Thomas' weather is characterized by lots of sun and warm Caribbean breezes. St. Thomas weather is truly tropical - an annual average temperature in the high twenties (about 30 degrees celsius) varies little between seasons, keeping winter months hot and sunny though slightly less humid than summer. Many restaurants and shopping malls are air-conditioned to combat the St. Thomas weather, but sticking close to the beaches (with plenty of sunscreen) is also a good idea, as trade winds blowing off the sea tend to make these areas a bit more pleasant and you can always go for a dip to cool off. The St. Thomas weather also backs off a bit inland, where higher altitudes mean slightly chillier days and nights, especially in the winter season.

What makes St. Thomas weather ill-suited for agriculture also makes it an ideal destination for sun-worshippers. St. Thomas weather does not include an extensive rainy season and any showers that do occur are generally short. With all of the sun raining down on St. Thomas, wet showers are usually welcomed as a brief respite from the heat.
