The US dollar is the currency used in St. John, but foreign currency can be exchanged all major bank branches on the island. Credit cards are widely accepted. You may want to inquire as some cards are charged a fee to compensate for the fees that the merchant must pay the card issuer. Personal checks are generally not accepted.
