Country Buses travel between Red Hook and town every 50 to 60 minutes beginning at 5:30 am from town and ending around 8:30 pm from Red Hook. Additional buses go from town (look for bus stops along the Waterfront) as far west as Bordeaux. $1.

City Buses travel between the Hospital area west into town starting at 6:15 am with a few departures each hour until 10:15 pm. Certain buses scheduled about 45 minutes apart, continue to the University and the Airport. The first morning bus from the Airport east to town is at 6 am and the last 9:30 pm. 75 cents.

In fact, always take note of the taxi number. In case you leave something behind, it is easier for the Commission to trace.

ST. THOMAS: These taxi rates from Airport and Town were obtained from the Taxi Commission and have been approved by the Virgin Islands’ Legislature. Look only for those taxis which carry a dome light and the letters TP on their license plate. Other taxis are not officially licensed and these rates may not apply.

Many taxis carry 8 to 12 passengers in vans and only these multi-destination vans service the Airport. (For a private taxi from the Airport, arrangements must be made in advance.)

Waiting charges are 15 cents per minute after the first ten minutes. Suitcases are 50 cents each after the first one. Radio calls are one-third plus the base price. Between midnight and 6 am there is an additional charge of $1.50 per trip for out-of-town fares; $2 minimum for in-town.

A two-hour sightseeing tour costs $30 for one or two passengers, additional passengers pay $12 each.

ST. JOHN: Official taxi rates from Cruz Bay. All official taxis or vans carry the letters JP on their license plates. Round-trip fares are double the one-way fare plus waiting charges which are 15 cents per minute after the first 10 minutes. Radio calls are one-third plus the base price. Two-hour island tours cost $30 for 1 or 2 passengers; for 3 or more $12 per person. Taxi shuttles carrying 3 or more passengers are often available.

Buses leave from the ferry dock at Cruz Bay every hour on the half hour to drive across the island to Coral Bay. They return to Cruz Bay shortly after. Fare $l.00 each way.
